First day of class
I had written up a post earlier, but thought it was too deep for my own good. So, I'll keep this relatively short and on the topic of school so that I don't get side-tracked. So, first day of class was interesting. I think it's going to be pretty fast-tracked. The teacher already was going along filling our heads with grammar. Most of the grammar is pretty much review, but I feel like it's stuff I didn't get a very good handle while I was at UCSC. I feel like I always need to learn things twice or three times before I really understand it. The stuff I learned in college, I feel like we just blew through it without even getting very much practice. Well, I know I didn't practice very much because I was concentrating on history as well. Plus, I'll admit I did slack off at the end of the year, but now I feel like I can just focus on the task at hand. I feel good about it. I feel like I'm going to learn a lot here. It's going to be tough though because I'll have to look everything up. Nothing is written in English. Everything in the textbooks is all in Japanese, which I'm fine with because it means I can't slack off. I think the problem with college was that everything was laid out in the textbook, so I could last minute cram everything in and kind of slide through class. Here, if you didn't study, you're completely lost. I don't want to be lost in class. Learned my lesson from college. It's time to buckle down and get serious about learning the language if I want to be a translator. I can't wait to get fluent in the language. Who knows, by the end of this year, you might not know what I'm talking about in these posts because they may be in JAPANESE!!! XD

Japan
Well, it's been a few days. I haven't had time to really sit down and write. Plus, I don't have internet in my room yet, so I will update later! Just know that I made it to Japan safely and am having a blast by myself! XD (Though I do wish I did have a friend here...)

Leaving the Nest
I originally wanted to blog much earlier, but I felt that most of what I was going to blog was just rants and peeves I've had with my parents, and I'm pretty sure no one would want to read whole recounts of squabbles that went on. Now that everything is pretty much set, I feel that I'm in a better mind set to write.
Well, I'm sitting in the airport lounge. I feel kind of nervous and excited. I am moving to a new place, so it should be natural that I am kind of worried. If I wasn't, then I'd be quite worried and question if I'm in the right mind set for moving to a new country. I think I'm ready to move away from home. During my college years, home still felt like I wanted to stay at forever, but now I feel that I'm ready to go see the world. I never thought I would see the day where I would feel ready to leave home and live in the open world. Home was always a shelter for me to get away from the world. It's a scary place out there, and I don't think I would have been able to handle it in college. Now I definitely feel ready to explore different places. I think three summers abroad got my feet wet enough for today. I know I still have a lot to learn in this world, but I feel I have learned a lot and able to handle the challenges that come along. I can't wait to finally begin this journey. My next post will be in Japan, so look forward to it! I'll take pictures of my tiny tiny room! XD
